Like any other movie-goer, one could get the idea of the main theme upon reading the title. “No other Woman” would suggest another infidelity story, a common cancer in all relationships since the past. But after watching the movie, you would not get the feel of regret as you have watched another Filipino film, well-crafted and it’s more than what you have thought and greater than you have expected.

The movie shows a modern tale of true love put into test between Sharmaine (Cristine Reyes), an almost perfect wife and Ram (Derek Ramsey), a faithful husband who later gives in to a temptation. The eve-like personality of Cara, played by no less than Anne Curtis, is the tempter, who is a happy-go-lucky New York schooled playgirl. Cara does not believe in true love for in her lifetime, she has not found one. For her, a relationship is like a game and boys are not worth a fight. But things changed when she found affection which later on develops into passion and love for Ram.

Sharmaine and Cara, the two main female characters in the story have their own share of turning points. The good housewife changes her outlook and decides to project a stronger personality after she has finally caught her husband who broke his promise of having no other woman aside from her. She finally sets her feet into her stilettos and gets herself ready to defend her marriage. On the other hand, the mistress in denial, Cara also in the end realizes that she is truly in love with Derek. She had to accept in that she was just a part of the dark past of a man who wanted to satisfy his wild fantasies.

Ram does not escape emotional struggles as with his dad, whom he hates most. The root of his hate was when his father left their home for another woman during his college days. The hate feeling later led him to imitate his father by engaging in a third party, and it was too late when he realized.

Yet in the end as they say, true love prevails. A mistress’ love for the married man, made her to realize that love was not a game and was not made just for fun. The wife also shows her unconditional love for her husband as she gave up her pride and went to the hospital after his husband caught a vehicular accident.

No Other Woman also shows the acting prowess of Anne and Christine who played their roles in precision and both deserve an acting award.

I haven’t watched this movie on the big screen nor on DVD but I heard a lot of good remarks about The King’s Speech from my friends.

So what do you think? The 83rd Academy Awards just says it all! The King’s Speech is definitely a MUST WATCH! And aside from that, this is actually based on a TRUE STORY. Cool!

I really had a great time watching this comedy adventure movie from Disney /Pixar  named UP.

It is about a 78-year old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. Not knowing, along his trip, Russell a very optimistic 8 years old Wilderness Explorer who desperately wants to have his final badge by Assisting the Elderly made his way above and beyond to respond to the call of his duty which is to assist Mr. Fredricksen in the wilds of South America.

I loved the idea of tying thousands of balloons in his house in order for him to fly.  I also admired the character of Dug. He is a lovable golden mutt who wants to prove that he belongs to his master.

This movie is  both funny and adventurous and conveys moral values that our relationship with others is what makes our life meaningful and colorful and that makes our happiness goes UP.

Synopsis: Good Dick is a modern fairy tale about a troubled, reclusive young woman and the persistent video clerk who draws her out of her claustrophobic world by starting up a unique courtship with her. As they become closer, her sexual antipathy is met with his unflinching optimism, until finally her aggressive defenses overwhelm them both and the relationship bursts apart. Profoundly affected by his presence in her life, she finds that she has the courage to face her past.

What can I say?

Movie is really cool and unique. I find the two lead characters funny. They were frank and upfront on the topic related to S**. The chasing of the guy to this weird girl is also amazing. And of course, the movie keeps me eagerly waiting if they would finally do the S** thing.  Hmmnn…see the movie if you want to find it out also! Hehehehehehe…

I saw the countdown for this best chick flicks on Qtv. It was actually Top 50 Best Chick Flicks but unfortunately my Kuya or older brother doesn’t want to turn the television on that’s why I didn’t get to write down all the movies being listed. But what’s matter most is I did get the Top 10 Best Chick Flicks and here are they:

In the list above, I believe I’ve only seen three namely: The Notebook, The Ghost and Pretty Woman. All of them are really beautiful and romantic movies especially – The Notebook. That’s why I am really wondering why it only falls on the number 9 spot.

Ever since I was able to watch the 75th Annual Academy Awards or Oscars on Studio 23 I really got interested with this movie. The Pianist had received a lot of nominations from Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Editing and Best Picture with major wins on Best Director, Best Writing – Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor in Leading Role categories. I was thinking this must be a really good movie if that’s the case.

So I watched it but only few weeks ago. Imagine it was first shown on the year 2003 and now its 2008. Hehehehee…Jaahh..nevermind as long as I have able to see it – time has never been an issue to me when it comes to movies. I even prefer watching a movie in the big screen on its 3rd week or a week before it will have its change picture. I got a lot of reasons for that.

Ooopppsss, here I am again..starting to deviate the topic. Pardon me for that. Anyway, the Pianist is “A Masterpiece”. I absolutely love it. I am damn impressed with the story of Wladyslaw Szpilman. I even like it more than the Cast Away not only because it is a real life story but for the fact that you can get many lessons from it. One best example is helping an enemy. See? Who would expect that? I know, most people want to crucify their enemies especially when they have done a lot of bad things to you. Like stabbing you at your back and more. But in this movie, Wladyslaw Szpilman (Adrien Brody) experienced more than that. His whole family died, he sees people died because of hunger and being murdered or killed.

But he never loses hope. There is a rainbow at the end of the tunnel as it has always been said. And he found a friend in the world of enemies. I am just sad he never got the chance to repay what Captain Wilm Hosenfeld (Thomas Kretschmann) has done for him. But I know deep in his heart, he is so grateful and have always been wishing he could meet him again and repay him.

This is a must-see movie guys!

I watched Casablanca few weeks ago in order to satisfy my curiosity.

I got interested with the movie long time ago after hearing so many good reviews not only from old folks I know but also from people I see on television. They have always been telling that this is the best love story movie of all time. So, for a love story sucker and hopeless romantic like me – what is the reason of not watching it? To think, I have always been on constant search for great movies of this like.

Anyway, the movie was okay for me. I wasn’t able to appreciate it that much compared to what others had said. It must have been because I have already watched better compared to Casablanca such as The Notebook and The Classic. But if I was born of their time, I believe I would have the same appreciation.

I also learned that this 1942 movie was actually the basis of all the love story movies we have been enjoying right now. A lot of elements have been drawn out from Casablanca and it is even noted as a plot device in the science-fiction television movie. And I am happy that I really watched Casablanca.

By the way if you have some great love story movies to commend feel free to leave a message here. You will definitely make me happy. Hehehehehhee…

I really want to watch Finding Nemo ever since I heard good reviews from this movie. I remember the first time I heard good remarks was when I had my first year of work as a tutor in a certain tutorial center. The whole family of my employer watched it and they had been saying that it was really a good movie not to mention the lessons you get from watching Finding Nemo.

Luckily, days ago I find out that our neighbor has a DVD of it so I borrowed and watched it.  And  the movie is indeed beautiful. Though the story line is a bit simple but I really like the positive message it leaves to the audience.

What is it? Well, it is the love of a father to his son and believing on what your son can do. Marlin (Nemo’s father) went through a lot before he was able to reach Sydney and find his son. On the other hand, Nemo was able to learn so many things by overcoming his fears.

One more thing I like about this movie was the voice of Nemo (so cute and adorable fish).  And the voice behind it is no other than Alexander Gould. He was 7 years old that time. I bet he is making tons of money out from this movie. By the way, Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres were also impressive as the voices of Marlin and Dory respectively.
